When, Where and How I Got My Australian Cattle Dog:
I got my first dog, Hera, as a rescue puppy that had been abandoned by her previous owners. I had no idea what I was getting into with her but I would have not changed a thing. She was my soulmate in a dog!! She lived to 13 years when she began to have a degenerative spine disease that led to her eventually having to be put down. I miss her every day of my life. Now I have Kiah, who I also got as a puppy. After several months without Hera I was ready for another companion dog. Kiah is beautiful and sweet. She is a hard worker and very intelligent. She is quickly becoming my best friend.
I'd Describe My Dog As…
Hera was easy to housebreak and was a little laid back for a Cattle dog. She was somewhat easy to train but did not have the strong herding drive that Kiah has. Kiah was difficult to housebreak but otherwise very easy to train.
Advice
- These dogs will get bored and may be very destructive if they are not kept mentally and physically busy.
