About My Dog
Emma Kate was born on March 26, 1999 and died on August 12, 2010. She was a rat terrier mixed with an Australian Cattle Dog. We don't know what happened to her. She lost a lot of weight, had a lot of tests and eventually stopped eating all together. She had to euthanize her when she got too weak to go out or get up from the bed. It has been the hardest decision of my life.
The moment our eyes met, I knew I wanted her. She was my soul mate and I miss her terribly. When she was a pup, she used to eat everything in sight, especially CD's by female artists. ha! She had a special affinity for Billie Holiday.
What I'd Like to Say To (or About) My Dog
I miss you baby. You were my best friend and I will love you always. I would give everything I own, to just have one more night of you sleeping on the bed with me, kicking me with your big feet that smelled like popcorn and giving me a bath with your tongue. To have one more chance for you to come into my arms at bedtime and for me to stroke your head until you would nod off. It took us a long time to get there - you and I. You never liked tears, you would much rather act silly and play ball but the last couple of years with you, you would lay with me and let me rub you til you fell asleep. You trusted me and my heart is breaking I miss you so much. I don't know if there is a heaven but I sure hope that we will meet on the road again.
Lessons Learned
- To never turn down a meal or a snack.
- To have fun without limits
- To be truly joyful to feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair.
- To enjoy a really good walk.
- To run in the sand dunes, play in the water and not give a damn what other people think.
- To smell everything, appreciate everyone, rub in the grass and smile, smile, smile.
