When, Where and How I Got My Whippet
We got both of our dogs from a breeder in Sonoma, CA. We got them each as puppies when they were a few months old. We bought our dogs from the breeder. My wife got our boy when we were dating and she moved into an apartment on her own, and we got our girl when we came back from our honeymoon.
I'd Describe My Dog As…
Sweet and wonderful. They are the best family dogs. You'll see a picture where a week after their little sister was born, they hopped up on the bed where she was sleeping and curled up next to her to sleep next to her and protect her at night.
Advice
- Train them early, and train them often. A good Whippet is a Whippet that is trained. Without going through training, we wouldn't be able to do the things with our dogs that we can.
- We give them a diet of 1/2 cup kibbles (Costco Chicken and Rice dry food brand; one of the best), 1/3 cup chopped chicken, and a tablespoon of cottage cheese. This keeps them healthy and gives them everything they need.
- Love your dog. They are not our dogs; they are our kids. Because of that, they are loved and respected. Treat them as a part of your family, not just as an animal, and they will take care of you for years.
