When, Where and How I Got My Siberian Husky

Isabella is 11 months old and purchased and shipped by air from North Carolina when she was 8 weeks old. She is very, very shy and not at all aggressive. She seldom barks and is very quiet. She does not like the outdoors as even strange noises scare her. The sad part is that her front paws are turning out at the joint, she has a rare genetic defect. Her leg bones have cysts in them and one bone is longer than the other. We are consulting university vets and orthopaedic vets and so far no one is familiar with this problem. We would appreciate any information if someone has had a dog with this problem.

I'd Describe My Dog As…

Isabella loves me and my daughter and her son, but is not easily accepting of other people. However, she immediately takes to young children. She is so smart she figured out how to open the door on her kennel. She is snow white, dark grey and sable, with blue, blue eyes. For a Husky she is slender and weighs only 45 lbs. She has been very easy to train and housebreak. She does not like to get dirty and keeps herself very clean. Her fur seems to shed any dirt that gets on it.

Advice

  • This SIberian Husky has been a really good pet for us and seems to love small children. We have tried to socialize her with other adults with little success.
  • She has been taken to training at Pet Smart and does not socialize with other dogs in the training. The other owners love her quiet behavior while the other dogs are barking and playing together while she sits quietly and observes them.
  • We have read that most Huskies are friendly and make good family pets. It is more like she is afraid of people she doesn't know, rather than being unfriendly.
