When, Where and How I Got My Shetland Sheepdog

Mac moved in when he was about 6 weeks old. I adopted him from a breeder who had only 2 puppies left from a litter. She brought them both over to my home and put Mac in my arms-and there was no way I was giving him back!

I'd Describe My Dog As…

Took awhile to house train, but now he does great! He sometimes seems to have a bit of a problem with his hind quarters-have asked the vet about it several times. I know Shelties can have hip problems-I hope he never has any real problems, tho. He does tend to herd me quite often when I'm trying to walk-which can be a challenge-but after all this time I'm getting good at walking while something is dragging at one of my legs!

Advice

  • Shelties are very active-Mac loves to be out in the yard running all over, playing fetch, and just being silly. He loves companionship and gives me a look with those big brown eyes of his that just about breaks my heart when I have to go out. Please don't adopt a Sheltie if you're going to be gone most of the day and he would be on his own-he won't be a happy dog.
