When, Where and How I Got My Poodle:
He found me.I stopped by the pet store to get my 16 year old beloved Homie (she was a mixed breed) a new leash. I looked down and there was this little ball of fur begging me to pick him up. Well I did just that. I put him down, got my leash and got the heck out of there. Well, that little ball of fur was on my mind for the whole weekend. When I woke up Monday morning I told myself that if that little guy was still there, he was coming home with me. Well, it was like he was waiting for me. When I opened the door he stared jumping up and down as if to say,"where have you been, I have been looking all over for you!"
I'd Describe My Dog As…
Cujo is a very laid back little dog. You would never know he was around. He won't bite or bark at you, but he won't let anyone he don't know come to close to me. He will jump on my lap and keep a eye on you. I owe my life to that little guy. I became very ill and he would not let me go to sleep. I drove to a friend's house and they took me to the hospital. The doctor told me that I had a strangulated hernia and if I would have gone to sleep I would have never woken up. He is my 7 pound hero.
I have had many pets and Cujo was cage trained. He would only go to the bathroom outside - never in his cage. He more or less housebroke himself. The only time I do have trouble with him is when he gets mad at me. That only happens every six weeks when I take him to the groomer. He will not sleep in the bed with me that night. He will sleep in my chair. But by morning all is forgiven.
He has never been to the vet except for his shots. He has never been a picky eater. I would get another toy poodle. All my dogs have always been mutts. I had a lot of medical issues with them.
Advice
- I live with my son and his family. They have twin girls. When they were little babies, Cujo didn't pay them no mind. When the girls started moving about, Cujo was happy if I let him stay in my room. Now that the girls are 4,he will let them pet him but when they start running around he gets a bit upset. He has never bit them but he would rather stay in my room than to deal with them. So I can only speak for my little guy and say keep little children away.
