When, Where and How I Got My Mixed-Breed Dog
My dog was 6 weeks old when I got her from someone I worked with. I was just supposed to keep her for a few days, but that was 11 1/2 years ago. She was just this big bundle of fur that didn't even fit in my one of my ceramic tiles, but now is about 45 lbs.
I'd Describe My Dog As…
Simba was very easy to train, and has never been one to get into things around the house. She has more of a cat-like personality, where she prefers to be on her own and only comes around when it's time to have her belly rubbed and when she wants to go outside or be fed. She definitely scares off any guests because she does have the Chow Chow personality trait of being very territorial about the house, but is much more carefree when she is out walking around. She is so smart that we often have to spell out words or use code with her because she understands better than some humans that I know. She often smiles and/or poses for photos, as she is doing in this one.
Advice
- I think mixed breeds are a good pet for families, but I would be cautious with getting a chow mix, only because they tend to be very protective of their owners and may bite a little friend.
