When, Where and How I Got My Doberman Pinscher
I got my Dobe in February of 2009 from a breeder in Hillsboro, OH. The drive was about an hour. I refused to drive a very long distance to get a dog. So, I researched and found this lady who was at a reasonable distance. I had my limits to price and distance for a puppy. He was 7 weeks old when I got him. He had the biggest feet and I knew he would grow fast to fit into them.
I'd Describe My Dog As…
Wolfgang is my son. I treat him like a human, therefore, he acts like a human, he just can't speak English. He has a funny personality. He does really cute things and his personality is always being captured on video or photographs. Wolfgang was very easy to train and housebreak. As you know, Dobermans are very intelligent and it only takes a few times of repeating things for them to understand. He is in obedience class, advanced level, and our goal is to complete the Canine Good Citizen test and become a licensed therapy dog. At this time, my baby has no known medical conditions to my knowledge. I pray everyday for my baby that the Lord will keep him healthy, strong, and safe.
Advice
- I've read numerous articles about Dobermans being good with people who have had experience with them. Well, Wolfgang is my FIRST dog, a Doberman Pinscher, and I don't see any difference in him versus any other breed. To me, all dogs are the same. You train them correctly and socialize them, you should have no problems. Wolfgang loves everybody and every dog because I've exposed him to everybody, every dog, and almost everything. If you want a relationship, a serious one, get a Doberman Pinscher. They will be by your side and a loyal companion, no matter what.
