In a Word, My Boxer Is…

Most Challenging Characteristics of the Breed

stubborn. know exactly what you want them to do but you must be persistant

When, Where and How I Got My Boxer

adopted my first female Delphi about 7 months ago (she is 2 yrs 65 lbs)..and fell completely in love with the breed. we adopted a big male from the same organization(m 11 months and already bigger than her at 67 lbs) they are complete opposites and just wonderful in their own way.

I'd Describe My Dog As…

my female Delphi is very well behaved , we adopted her so she didnt have much training and not very much confidence, but she learned very fast. she is so smart and loyal, always by my side. she can be a little stubborn but always does the right thing. we never leash her. its like she is on an invisible one. i could not have asked for a better dog. she is my shadow and my furry little child. i wanted a big boy to build her confidence with other dogs and we adopted Roadie from the same place. he is totally different. he had no training or socialization of any kind when we got him. being very big for his age( 11 months 67 lbs) he is strong, stubborn, almost stupid at times, destructive, a.d.d. but he is learning some manners after only having him for a month. i could not love him any more. despite his negatives he is shadow #2. he is so loving and loyal to me and even after all he went through before we adopted him, he trusts us already. this breed and my dogs for sure, are the ideal dog. so smart it is scary sometimes. they needed me soo much when i got them and i now realize how much i need them. i will probably never have another breed of dog. despite the troubles they are my joy:)

Advice

  • if you want a loving, loyal, playful pet boxers are wonderful. if you have children they are so sweet and i have never met an aggressive boxer. although they are called boxers for a reason and like to play with their front paws, they can be rough at times. but are extremely smart and learn quickly not to jump even though it is an instinct to do so.if you are to busy to walk your dog at least once a day or have land for them to run i would not recommend boxer or any other med or large breed for that matter. if any dog doesnt get enough exercise that is when their bad habits come out.
