Picky eater.

When, Where and How I Got My Bichon Frise

I bought her from a breeder after contacting the New England Bichon Frise group. VERY IMPORTANT TO ANYONE READING THIS: Never, never, never buy a Bichon or any breed from a pet store. Buying a dog from a pet store encourages the success of puppy mills. First contact the Bichon rescue group (any dog breed has one) and see if you can adopt a Bichon. If you can't find a dog there, then find a reputable breeder near you. NEVER buy over the Internet. You don't know where the dog is coming from and it may be another evil puppy mill. Bichons are fairly expensive (I paid $1800).

I'd Describe My Dog As…

Lovable, funny, and sweet. Loves to sleep under the sheets and tells me so by scratching at the covers. I have four children and she loves everyone. She barks but only to get someone's attention and she LOVES attention from strangers.

Advice

  • As a huge dog lover, my advice would be not to get any dog around very small children. They cannot know how to treat a puppy and it's just not fair to the dog.
  • Bichons are full-time dogs and desperately need your time and attention. Please don't leave them alone all day. It will break their heart.
  • And before you get a Bichon, make sure you understand how much grooming they need. If you don't want to do this ... get a breed that does not require a groomer.
  • I will tell you that there's not a sweeter, more devoted dog in the world.
  • And they stay "puppies" forever.
