Guide Review - Review of the PetBuckle Seat Belt Harness

Many dogs enjoy going for car rides, and many of us allow our dogs to move about the car and hang their heads out of the window. Though this may be fun for the dog, this is not the safest way to travel in the car. In case of an accident, the dog can be thrown from the car, often resulting in fatal injury. The dog can become a projectile, causing danger to you, your passengers, or drivers and passengers in other cars.

The PetBuckle Seat Belt Harness is one of many available car safety products for dogs. No assembly is required, and the harness is fairly east to put on. It is very important to ensure proper adjustment. The harness has a tendency to slip off the dog if it is not very snug. Once properly fitted, the shoulder belt in the car slips through a loop on the back of the harness. For optimum safety, the dog should be buckled in the back seat. The dog should never be placed in a seat with an air bag unless the air bag is turned off.

Many dogs will need to adjust to this product over time. Though the snuggly fitted harness does not tend to shift, the car seat belt may allow the dog to turn around in place. The first few car trips should be brief and without distractions such as open windows or toys. Ideally, a passenger will sit in the back to help keep the dog still. This may prevent the need for the driver to stop and adjust the dog. Praise and comforting words will help the dog acclimate to the new harness.

Once the dog is accustomed to the harness, the car ride is peaceful and pleasant. A window can be opened to allow the dog to enjoy the breeze while the head remains safely inside the window.
