Hi my name is Gail and I have just finished reading your article about shelter dogs and would like to tell you about our Scooby who is also a shelter dog and is 100% black lab. When my stepson Corey first saw Scooby in his cage at PAWS he wouldn’t leave the cage and begged me to come and see him. When I walked over, all I saw was this very scrawny black dog who didn’t have hair on his nose and who was too weak to stand up, but Corey saw something more… PAWS said that Scooby was 3 years old and stopped eating because he was depressed at loosing his home. That day our family adopted Scooby.

We also had Rufus who is ½ sharpie beagle mix. When Rufus saw Scooby he started taking a few dry food nuggets in his mouth and walk them over to Scooby so he would eat. After a year you would never know that Scooby was so thin and weak.

Scooby is the coolest dog we have ever had. He is so laid back and loves everyone. Rufus and Scooby are thick as thieves. One couldn’t live without the other. We also found out that Scooby is full of tricks too. Scoob loves water from the hose and jumps into it so he can catch the water as its coming out of the hose as he does flips.
