Whiskey was born 10/13/2004, she's almost 2 years old now! Scottish Deerhounds are the royal breed of Scotland. You might have seen a pack of them running in the 1991 Kevin Costner flick "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves" (chasing the young boy through the fields). They run like deer but faster... deerhounds are in the same hound family as greyhounds and Irish wolfhounds (with which they are often confused).
They are basically comically *big* grey speed bumps. They lounge on your couch all day until something interesting catches their sight (sighthounds) and then they take off! Watching a deerhound run is a beautiful sight. Mostly they just hog the couch and bed and nudge you more and more off the furniture with sarcastic leg "stretches".
