Tough Choices

Making Responsible Decisions

Sometimes a dog owner has to face making some tough decisions, ones that may well break his or her heart.

Re-Homing a Dog
It can happen to even the most responsible dog owner. Sometimes there will come a dog that needs more skill than the person who owns it has and the dog needs to be re-homed for its own sake. It is far better to hand a difficult dog over to somebody who is better prepared to meet its needs than to struggle and possibly face dire consequences later if the dog attacks somebody, or becomes untreatably ill.

Euthanizing a Sick Dog
At some point in every dog's life, comes a time when her owner starts to think about letting her go, and ending the pain, whether from sickness, or old age. How do you know when the time comes to let go? At what point do you keep on paying for expensive treatments, and when do you know to stop?

Euthanizing a Physically Healthy Dog
This is a controversial subject. Sometimes a dog will develop aggression or behaviour that an owner is incapable of, or unwilling to deal with. Or he may have bitten somebody, or come close to doing so.
