She's one of three dogs I own now, and I love them all, but she was my first dog that I raised from a puppy, so she's kinda special.

How did you acquire your dog?

Scarborough Animal Shelter

Why did you choose her, if you choose her?

I was looking for a working breed type female puppy. I had owned and fostered a few dogs with issues and wanted a dog that someone else hadn't already messed up. She was 12 weeks old, floppy eared (wanted that, too, less intimidating look) and short haired (wanted to get away from the piles of hair that my previous dog, a GSD, shed)

Where is the best place to find a mixed breed dog?

Shelters!! (I just can't bring myself to pay the price for a purebred puppy)

Why would you recommend a mixed breed dog?

You never know what you're going to get.

What is special about your dog?

I was told she was lab/shepherd/dobe, but I'm sure that was just a guess on the shelter's part. She is probably a rottweiller mix. She is sweet, and smart, and sensitive and affectionate. She loves to play and can go all day. She has her own games and teaches you to play them. She will find a kid of any age in the park and utterly focus on them, enticing them into play with her. She can fit at least two balls into her mouth, and tries, often successfully, to get more toys (kong, stick, frisbee) in there. She does not have a reliable 'give' command, and will hold on to her toys with a death grip, unless I make her give them up. She will drop her toys in the middle of the park when its time to go, and then follow me out, knowing, if she can get me to go back to get them, she can probably get more play time. She is crabby and bossy and has no patience for puppies, but she's never hurt another dog, just reminded them, loudly, of their manners. She tries to help with the horses by herding and disciplining them and usually causes more problems, but I know she can't help herself, its hardwired into her brain to move livestock. There is so much that is special about her I could write for pages, but that's enough for now.
