(Morris, NY, May 1, 2003) -- Glen Highland Farm, the newest entry in doggie summer adventure, is getting rave reviews with a new twist to vacations -- everything is designed by the dogs for the dogs!
With a 70% repeat rate in the third year, Camp Border Collie & Friends is well on it's way to becoming the #1 choice of people searching for dog friendly escapes.
"Camp was the deepest look into dogs I've ever had"... "I've been to other camps, including serious agility and this is the BEST"...."It's a dog and dog lover's heaven", say past campers.
Research shows that time with dogs improves bonding, communication, trust and motivation, helping humans renew and transform, letting go of the anxiety of stress-filled lives. Set on 175 acres in gorgeous upstate NY, the summer getaway combines nature trails, swimming, hiking and play with classes in agility, herding, frisbee, flyball, animal communication and training. Well-known authors, Suzanne Clothier, Mary Lou Randour, Susan Chernak and Jon Katz join the camp as speakers, focusing on how to deepen the human/animal relationship. All breeds are welcome and one important distinction -- all dogs are off leash throughout the farm, creating a completely different dog experience than other camps.
Also unique to Glen Highland Farm, the camp setting is home for a non- profit focus: an on-site dog sanctuary, Sweet Border Collie Rescue, where 150 dogs will find safe haven each year awaiting their new home. Border Collies have become one of the top ten at-risk breeds euthanized today due to their behavior complexity. Campers attendance provides financial support for the rescue program. Additionally, Glen Highland Farm provides an innovative summer camp for inner-city children who learn non-violent methods of dealing with conflict through working with the rescue dogs. Vacationers often get involved in all aspects of the Farm's "Caring Programs' while enjoying their own retreat.
Camp dates begin July 6; July 20, Sunday through Friday with limited spaces remaining. Luxury camping with cots as well as RV's or hotel and bed 'n breakfast lodging. Details available at http://www.glenhighlandfarm.com or call 607-263-5415, Lillie Goodrich, co-founder of Glen Highland Farm.
