Betsy, a blonde cocker spaniel, was my beloved soul companion for 15 years. She was my best friend and went through everything in life with me.We traveled together, ate together, hiked everywhere together, laughed and cried together, went through good times and hard times, always side by side. She outlasted two husbands, moved with me many times and was always there for me no matter what. When she was 14, she lost her sight to glaucoma, and tried as hard as she could to adapt to her new situation. But she had lost her hearing as well, and just couldn't learn the new commands she needed to adjust to her loss of sight. After a few months I realized she just wasn't happy and I helped her go to the Rainbow Bridge. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I knew it was the right thing. I know there she is joyful and free and healthy, and romps everyday with the butterflies she always loved to chase. I know she watches over me everyday, and I think of her daily. Someday I will join her at the Bridge and we will be together again. She is forever in my heart. ~ Sierra |
