"Here is my wonderful mutt, Bear. He's a 3 and 1/2 year old mix of border collie, Aussie shepherd, and we think Belgian Tervuren shepherd. We adopted him at 9 weeks. Bear is a big bold fellow, 70 lbs. of lush fur and playful temperment. Bear and his 7 littermates were going to be disposed of by their owner; the litter was rescued by a local vetinary clinic. The staff at this clinic hand raised all 8 puppies from the age of 2 days old and placed them all in homes. Bear is a certified therapy dog and an R.E.A.D. dog (Reading Education Assistance Dog). He loves kids, and the kids reciprocate. 20 years from now there will be 30-somethings all over our city with dogs named Bear."
