Can you help me find a dog breeder?

for About.com

Question: Can you help me find a dog breeder?

Answer: Since verifying the quality of a dog breeder is next to impossible over the internet, I can not and will not recommend a dog breeder for any breed. What I can and do, is provide links to the breed club of the dog breed you are looking for. The breed clubs are listed here: Dog Breed Clubs

How does knowing about Breed Clubs help me locate a dog breeder?

Many breed clubs online have a list of Code of Ethics breeders that belong to the club. A Code of Ethics breeder swears to breed solely for the betterment of their chosen breed. For a look at what the typical Code of Ethics is like, check out the Mastiff Club of America's Code of Ethics.

You have some links to breeders' websites, why?

Most of the links to a breeder's personal website are located in the Photo Gallery, and are part of their photo credit. As a courtesy in return for allowing me to use their photos, I include a link back to their website whenever possible.
