The Breed Basics is an index of dog breeds from around the world. Included in every Breed Basic is a brief history, a description of the breed today, suitability for certain living arrangements, links to official standards, and favourite websites. Some pages include a Recommended Reading section as well.

Many of the pages will have pictures eventually, some may have a small photo available now, and others include a link to the breed's Gallery page. If you would like your dog's picture up in the Gallery, please send it in, using the photo submission form.

A note to breed fanciers: If you want to write about your favourite breed, I encourage guest authors and user submissions. I can not guarantee everything sent in will be subsequently published, but I will do my best. Even if your breed already has a profile online, I welcome more insight and experience from those who know their dogs and have tales to tell. Let your creativity rule and tell everyone what it's like to live with your breed of dog! Guest Writers
