How to Make a Forum Signature
From your Dogs Guide
All those neat graphics in the forum posts, and you want one too? Here's how to create your own.
Difficulty Level:
Average
Time Required:
10 minutes or more
Here's How:
- Set up a personal webspace account. Imgstudio.com, and Boomspeed.com are the best, unless you have Delphi webspace. Very few others allow file or remote linking.
- Create your own, or have a friend make you a unique picture for your signature.
- Upload the graphic file onto your new webspace.
- Back at About.com, find the link at the top of the forum page, where it says "My Forums".
- Along the left side is another link to "My Preferences".
- Near the bottom of the "My Preferences" page, is the signature space box.
- Go back to webpage your picture is stored on.
- On the picture ITSELF, right click your mouse to pull up the menu.
- Select "Copy".
- Back to the Signature box in "My Preferences", right click again.
- Select paste.
- Once your picture is loaded, click it once again to get the tabbed box outlining it.
- Pull on the box to adjust the size.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the "My Preferences" page, and click the "Submit" box.
- Go and make a post on a forum to test your new signature.
Tips:
- Geocities, Xoom and Angelfire do NOT allow remote linking for pictures. Use a webhost that does.
- Keep your graphics small and managable.
