maltese dog breed

The Maltese is a soft little white dog with a gentle yet brave disposition. At under seven pounds, this toy breed is often seen as a "purse pooch" - something these dogs likely enjoy. The Maltese is a playful and energetic dog that bonds closely with its owner. The breed can be traced back to ancient times, where it was the beloved companion of royalty and nobility. Today's Maltese is just as pampered and is also relatively popular.

I know there are plenty of people who think the Maltese is one of those "yip-yap" dogs. While they can be vocal and prissy and times, this is a brave little breed that is tougher than it looks! Can't get enough of the lovely Maltese? Share your thoughts on this dog breed: talk about your Maltese!

I could not agree more. These dogs are extremely devoted with just the right touch of impishness that makes them so endearing to their owners. Their antics is a constant source of amusement, happy conversations, and fond memories that builds through the years. They do need a lot of grooming and easily suffers from separation anxiety if left alone by their leader. But their character and spirit make them the canine companion of choice for us…

We have a Maltese and a Maltese/Poodle mix. We LOVE them! They are such loving and loyal little dogs, and such little clowns too that keep us laughing all the time. Our Maltese is constantly with our daughter, and protects her with his all his might. He never leaves her side. The Maltese/Poodle mix has the Poodle bone structure somewhat, but has the beautiful hair of the Maltese and the loving personality. She thinks she is a human and thinks we must treat her that way. lol Along with our Shih-Tzu, they give us so much joy, loyalty, entertainment, unconditional love, and companionship. I wish everyone was as happy to see me come home as they are! lol

We own two male Maltese. I cannot say enough about them. They have brought nothing but joy to my husband and I. They truly think they are human and we treat them as such. We enjoy watching them interact with each other. They are the typical lap dog. As soon as we walk in the house they are at our side. And yes they are the ” great protectors”. They will not allow any strangers near us. They are a tough cookie. We love our boys!
