This week's featured breed is the American Staffordshire Terrier. Last week, I featured an extremely similar dog breed, the American Pit Bull Terrier. The two breeds are often thought of interchangeably. Unfortunately, both have an unjustified bad reputation as aggressive dogs. That stereotype could not be further from the truth. The American Staffordshire Terrier, nicknamed "Am Staff," is an affectionate, playful and energetic companion dog that forms a tight bond with its people.
Do You think an Am Staff could be the dog for you? This energetic, athletic dog is certainly not right for everyone. However, the Am Staff is the kind of dog that is in tune with human emotions and craves human companionship. Take some time to learn all about the loveable, loyal American Staffordshire Terrier and decide for yourself. Got a soft spot for this breed? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

I love my AmStaff! He is a bit bigger then most, he is tall, & weighs 120lbs. Loves getting attention from anyone, especially kids.
We have a Am Staff / Boxer mix. She is THE most lovable dog ever. She is our first dog, and we couldn’t have rescued a better girl. She is obedient (most of the time – she is a teenager), rarely barks, loves to play and is lightning fast. We weren’t sure what mix she was until I saw the pictures of the Am Staff. She has the boxer body and jowls though. Only 50lbs but solid as a rock! We just love her!
