The English Springer Spaniel was named for its ability to flush out, or "spring" game. However, the name actually reminds me of a spring: bouncy and fun. That, in a nutshell, describes the personality of this breed. Springers are enthusiastic and affectionate dogs that also happen to be highly affective hunters.
It takes a bit of work to care for the English Springer Spaniel, but lovers of the breed say it's worth the extra effort. Besides the need for frequent grooming, Springers require mental and physical exercise. Many of these dogs are seen successfully competing in field trials.
