Have you ever searched for a book about dog training, only to find the vast amount of choices overwhelming? Whether you have a new dog, plan to get a new dog, or just want to work on training with your current dog, a good dog training book is a great place to start. However, there are so many dog training books out there that it can be nearly impossible to decide which ones are the best for you and your dog. Some dog training books are better than others, and choosing the right ones can make all the difference.
Fortunately, dog trainer Amy Bender has compiled a list of her top five dog training books. Topping the list is one of my personal favorites: The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson. Each of Amy's book selections focus upon positive reinforcement. Best of all, these books can help us better understand the way our dogs think and why they do the things they do. Our staff has read and reviewed just about every book there is on Dogs. Our passion for reliable well thought out information is the basis for our in house library at VitaHound Labs. While we would recommend owners pursuing health and wellness issues to use the .edu veterinarian sites to assure the research is current, our recommendation on dog training is to utilize books. The web is still not match for the dog training authors who have taken the time and effort to describe the in depth knowledge on the subject . So I emailed our staff to send me their recommendations and the winner was Don’t Shoot the Dog!: The New Art of Teaching and Training.
