girl hugging dog - golden retriever Are you ready to be the change you want to see? As mentioned in my post on Monday, today has been designated as the official Be the Change Blog Post Day by the folks at BlogPaws. The randomly chosen beneficiary for this event is a non-profit animal shelter called Paws Without Parents, located in Columbus, Ohio. To donate to Pets Without Parents, visit the Blogpawty page on firstgiving.com. Donations are securely handled by firstgiving and go directly to the shelter. I'm so thrilled to be a part of this!

I'd like to encourage you to give back to animals in whatever way you see fit. It doesn't have to be this animal shelter, it can be any pet related cause that is close to your heart. I have a favorite local pet rescue that I often try to help out. Some people prefer to donate to a pet therapy or service dog organization, while others enjoy volunteering their time to their favorite charities. Learn how to start giving back now! And remember, you can be kind to animals simply by being a responsible dog owner - it's the most important thing you can do.

Humans and "anipals" in the pet blogosphere have plenty of inspiring and informative things to say today. Here are some of today's excellent posts to get you started (there are even some for the cat lovers among us):
