Goodies For Your Furry Valentine
Valentine's Day is just a few short days away! If you have a significant other, you may be stressing about what to get for that special person. If you are single, you might be sick of hearing all the hype and mushy stuff. However, if you are a dog owner, that means you have an automatic unconditional Valentine. Back during my years of being single, my dogs were my very special furry Valentines. Even though I am no longer single, I am still proud to say I have a canine Valentine! Celebrating "V-day" with your dogs means you don't have to splurge on overpriced flowers, jewelry and candy to make them happy!
If you want to do something special with your dog to celebrate Valentine's Day, consider a trip to your local dog park, a nice long stroll, and maybe a few games of fetch or tug-of-war. You can go the extra mile and prepare some yummy heart-shaped homemade treats, like Valentine Liver Nibbles (recipe from The Honest Kitchen). The recipe includes healthy and tasty ingredients. However, keep in mind that food is not love - everything in moderation. Perhaps the most important thing to remember this Valentine's Day is to keep your dog away from potential hazards like chocolate and poisonous plants and flowers.
Do you have any special plans for V-Day this year that include your dog? Share them with us if you like. Most of all, be safe and have fun. Happy Valentine's Day!

My 10 month old pomeranian “Lily” went suddenly blind on Valentines Day. My heart is broken! We see a Animal Opthamologist tomorrow but so far all blood work and eye tests have come back normal. She is scared and I think depressed. Her bueatiful playful personality is gone right now and I don’t know what to do but hold her. Any advice?

Hi Shelley,
I read your comment – sorry it took so long to respond. I know how hard this must be for you. I had a guest author write about her blind dog – perhaps it will help?
