Ick of the Tick

tick close up adult female There's not much out there that grosses me out more than ticks. In all my years of working in veterinary medicine I have experienced all kinds of yucky things - I'm sure you can imagine, so I will not elaborate here. I have to say that ticks are in my top five when it comes to the worst of all that is icky. Sure, I can handle them, but I loathe them. Maybe it's the whole blood-sucking vampire thing . . . perhaps it's the sneaky way they hide on their victims. . . most likely it's the fact that they are known vectors of disease. Whatever it is, I'll do anything I can to keep them off of me and my dog!

Like it or not, ticks are a reality. As a dog owner, tick prevention is an important step in keeping your dog healthy. Though the threat varies based on your geographical location, it is important to assess the risks and take the proper steps. Educate yourself - learn all about ticks to keep you and your dog safe from tick-borne diseases.

Frontline Plus. We have two dogs. Neither has had a single tick bite in the three and a half years we’ve been using it. We have found a dead tick in my golden’s coat, but there was no matching bite. We’ve also found a tick in the house on two separate occasions, but no bites!

We use x-spot and it works very well. I don’t like using it but have found no better solution.
