Dog Breed of the Week: Yorkshire Terrier
Wednesday December 31, 2008
Yorkshire Terriers, affectionately called “Yorkies” are tiny dogs with huge personalities. This is one of the most popular dog breeds in the world right now - and one of the most stylish. Due to their small size, Yorkies are easily carried around in fashionable handbags and dressed up in little outfits. Don't let their "frou frou" appearances fool you, though! These little dogs have a fiercely loyal and protective side when it comes to their loved ones. On the other hand, Yorkies can be the most cuddly little love-bugs!
Yorkshire Terriers have stolen the hearts of million of dog lovers. If you you want a very small, energetic dog and don't mind dealing with routine grooming and possible minor health problems, this could be the dog for you. Are you a Yorkie devotee? Please share your Yorkie tales and photos with us!

I don’t ownn nor ever did own, one of these dogs. But I think they are one of the cutest dogs there is. I am very surprised that no one comented on this blog about these dogs since there must be a lot of people who own one.
Our little Lacie Girl is going to be four years old next week. We feel so blessed to have her in our lives, she is such a joy. We are retired and this is our first dog since we had kids at home. We decided after we retired we wanted a dog & went to dog shows, and read about the different breeds. We had always thought the Yorkies were sweet, so went to look at them at breeders. Our second stop, we saw Lacie, or I should say she saw us and picked us. She was the only one from the litter of four that kept coming back to us. We adopted her at 10 weeks, and wonder how we could be so lucky to have this sweet tempered loving dog in our lives. We believe it was meant to be.
Have owned poodles, Great Dane, Wire Haired Terrier, Rotty and now 3˝ lb Yorkie that is absolutely a delight. Yes they are about the cutest dog you could own but as cute as they are their temperment is even better. Very calm, loving and super intelligent. Gets along great with people and dogs and does not engage in barking. Love the little girl.
