Baby’s Story, From Guest Author Karla NappiBaby the Dog

Sunday August 10, 2008

Please allow me to introduce Karla Nappi and her guest article, The Key to Life is in Your Dog’s Soul. If you have been visiting the Dogs site on About.com for a long time, you may remember Karla’s touching story about her beloved dog, Baby. The article was missing for a while, but I am happy to say it is back. Karla recounts the sad experience of Baby losing her sight with touching dialogue that, I believe, any dog lover can relate to.

I would like to thank Karla for sharing this very personal story with the world. I hope it moves you all the way it moved me. Please read about Baby and, if you wish, share your thoughts with us here. Photo of Baby © Karla Nappi

(1) Kelly says:

I had a wonderful Yorkie named Angel for 13 special years who also went blind in her later years with cataracts. It has only been a couple of years since she passed away and I still miss her terribly. The blindness was not as sudden of a change for her, thankfully, but still difficult nonetheless to see her have to slow down. I will say, one of my special memories is of my parents’ cat wanting to play chase with her, but he realized that she kept losing him too easily so he began meowing from the other room for her to find him. Angel adapted well even through a move to our new home when my husband and I were married. Even having to slow down, she never failed to wiggle and try her hardest to find me when she knew I was home- sometimes causing herself to fall off of something in the process! Anyway, I could go on for a long time about her, but this story reminded me of her and I just had to comment. Hang in there Karla!
