Unlikely Celebrity Dog Lovers
Baseball fans are mourning the passing of broadcasting legend Skip Caray. While Caray could be a crusty, yet charming curmudgeon on the air, it turns out he had a soft spot for dogs, including Larry, a heartworm positive pooch from an Atlanta dog rescue organization that was in danger of being euthanized if funds couldn't be raised for his treatment. Not only did Larry get his treatment, he ended up being adopted by Caray and even got to attend a Braves game that Caray was announcing for a special "Bark in the Park" event at Turner Field.
While we hear a lot about celebrities and their animal activism, I'm always intrigued when I find out someone like Skip Caray, who never suffered fools gladly, had an apparent deep and loyal love for animals.
Who are your favorite celebrity animal activists, especially those dedicated to helping our canine friends?

To Whom It May Concern-
I have a business card that I made as part of a campaign to raise awareness about Black Dog Syndrome. I was wondering if perhaps you would be willing to post the image somewhere on your web site? It would be most appreciated, as I am trying to raise awareness of BDS and increase adoptions of black dogs. The business card can be found at the following link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrsrice/2730588623/ . Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Princess Kim
