Boxer Beauties
Sunday July 27, 2008
For those that think of Boxers as big, silly clowns, you may be surprised to know that they were originally used as fighting dogs. They've also done their fair share of hunting. But in modern times, they mainly serve as loyal and loving companions, and because of their gentle and fun-loving nature, they also make great family pets. There's definitely more to Boxers than meets the eye. For you Boxer owners out there, tell the rest of us why they are such great dogs.

We have 2 Boxers in our family and they are as different as night and day. Our big boy is 110 lbs of pure love, a fawn beauty who loves children and is wonderful with other pets and has a talent for talking w/my husband or anyone else who answers the radio. His name is Truck. Our other is as sweet as a peach, her name is Pedal and she’s about 60 lbs of energy, she loves the water and her ball and I think she thinks she our fur child. She fetches and tries to swim in the sprinklers, she gives us constant joy! Thanks for the opportunity to share !!!
i have an 8 year old Boxersand he is a big baby…far from his fighting routes
I have a 5 year old Boxer named Juliet. She is my love!! I never would have imagined loving a dog as much as I love my Boxer. She is so loving and funny, I don’t know what I would do without her! She is my first experience with a purebred and it could not have been a more perfect match. She is just like me. We have a neighbor that has a boxer as well adn they truly do box. It;s hilarious to see them play together. She alos loves to give hugs. She will put her full body into it by first placing her arms upon your shoulders, then leaning in to hug you. I love her so.
Have two beautiful girls. Patchy who is 8 and we rescued at one year of age…and our newest baby Brandywine who is 8 months.
Patchy is the “guard dog” who is ready to defend all that is hers…..and the whole family is “hers”. She is so intuitive to my every emotion. She owns my heart. Hates bathtime, won’t eat dry dog food and wants a roll or biscuit every time I bake. Not to eat herself, but to take outside to “bait” the birds so she can chase them out of “her yard”. She is white with a brindle patch on her eye.
Brandy loves the water and as soon as the hose is turned on, here she comes. She hangs onto Patchy’s every move. She loves to play with squeek toys, her big ball, and to run. She is such a loving baby. She’s dark fawn, almost a dark red, black mask.
We had a wonderful brindle boxer named Kayle that we just had to rehome due to financial reasons. She was so smart and caring. She learned how to heel in a matter of minutes and how to sit at corners easily. My favorite thing about her was what I call the “Boxer Wag”, where she tried to wag her tail so hard, but because it was docked her entire body shook instead!
I adopted a male black-tan brindle Boxer who is about 4 years old-Bruce. He’s awesome! And hes beautiful, sbout 90 lbs.,smart, fun, loving and the funniest dog Ive ever met.Hes on my heels -we call him my shadow
.When he gets on the couch with me he literally gets in my lap and tries to get his entire body on me.I love him!He gives great hugs too with his entire body.I hope we have many many years with him. They are a beautiful breed in so many ways!
We have 3 boxers…a male brindle, our big boy of 95 lbs who is scared of paper rattling….a 50 lb female fawn and our newest addition at only 9 months of age a female brindle weighing in at 45 lbs so far. Her name is Mikayla and I found this site looking on Splash Dogs because she may become a dock jumper!!!
She loves running and leaping off the high edge of the pool to get her Air Kong. It’s quite amazing! Boxers are the most loving and incredible dogs. Wish us luck! As of now, there is no boxer dock jumping record on Splash Dogs! Maybe my little one can do something about that!
We are owned by 2 boxers, Ellie Mae (reverse brindle) and Buster, a male fawn. Ellie weighs about 58 lbs and Buster near 80. They are my furbabies without a doubt! Ellie is 6 and Buster 3. They are clowns for sure but they are great with our 8 month old grandson, Noah, whom they guard closely whenever he’s over here. They make us laugh, they make us feel safe and loved and they make us watch out for counter-surfing!
Both are champions at the boxer wiggle dance and they dance with abandon for their treats! we love love love them!!!!!!
WE HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD FEMALE BRINDLE BOXER. HER NAME IS KALEA. SHE IS THE MOST SPOILED DOG AND MOST LOVED DOG ON EARTH. I COULDNT IMAGE MY LIFE WITHOUT HER. SHE IS MY BEST FRIEND AND SHE FOLLOWS ME EVERY WHERE I GO. SHE LOVES THE WATER HOSE AND EVERYTIME I GO TO THE STORE. THERE HAD BETTER BE SOMETHING FOR HER OR SHE POUTS.. JUST LIKE A LITTLE KID. AND SHE GIVES BIG BODY HUGS TO. AND SHE HAS TO SLEEP WITH US RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. AND SHE KNOWS WHEN IT IS TIME TO GET UP. SHE GETS UP AND STARTS KISSING US. WE ALSO GET KISSES FROM HER AFTER SHE EATS. ITS LIKE SHE IS SAYING THANKYOU. AND SHE CAN ALSO SAY MAMA.. FOR REAL.. SHE WEIGHS 55LBS. NOW WE GOT HER WHEN SHE WAS ONLY 4 WEEKS OLD. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ANOTHER BOXER BUT I AM AFRAID SHE WOULD BE VERY JEALOUS. SHE LOVES TO GO TO PET SMART AND GET A NEW TOY. SHE HAS A TON OF TOYS. WE LOVE HER VERY VERY MUCH.
My friends used go have a boxer. She was a very sweet, loving dog.
I have a 6 month old puppy boxer dog, who is the most friendly family dog we have ever had, he gets so excited when you come in the door ad wiggles which we call the crab walk and is always very friendly with other dogs, and with children of all ages, a good family dog,
We have a 3 year old male boxer named Grover that we adopted at @ 1 year of age. He is the biggest cuddler, very spoiled, even the couch isnt comfy enough-he needs all the pillows too! He loves attention and is very demanding taking his paw and pulling my hand to his chest for rubs. He loves to play and chew, is petrified of water, but loves company and other animals. He is very nosy and always stares and tries to follow strangers on our walks! We love him so much; what a personality!
I have an 18-month old pound puppy - Hercules - who is the most loveable, smartest, and most adorable boxer/bulldog mix in the world. (we moms always think ours is the cutest
He is so gentle, he let a strange 4-year-old grab his jowls and still gave her a big kiss. He gives “High 5s”, rolls over, shakes hand, brings his special bowl when he wants a treat, etc. He’s just over 50#, strong as an ox with a heart as big as the sky. He is the special joy in my life. If it’s an ugly day, he will find something goofy to do to make us laugh. Love ya, Herky!
I rescued a boxer that I renamed Bosephus,he loves Hank Williams Jr.He is a joy to be around. As soon as he could support his own weight after I got him,he hasn’t stopped moving since. He loves kids, and anyone who will give him a bisquit.Just don’t try to jump the fence, he will sit on you and wait for help,if he doesn’t drown you with drool first. He’s had me for almost 9 years now!
Pitbulls are banned where I live. When walking my dog (beagle), occasionally a pittbull is running around off leash (not allowed). When I point out this to the owner, usually the answer is that it is a boxer and not a pitbull. How do I differentite the two breads?
I have the gorgeous flashy fawn named Daisy. I wish I had named her Tigger though she jumps higher and more than any other creature I’ve ever seen. She is so smart and is laser pointer addicted my sons even taught her to look up and down. She only weighs about 40 pounds but she is Full of energy and love.
I have always had Boxer rescues and you can’t imagine how wonderful and devoted they are. I lost my two this year and now, for the first time, have two 5 month old pups. A female white and a male black. I know they are called reverse Brindle but he appears beautifully black. They are the most playful, loving and wonderful dogs. I can’t praise this breed enough.
Our boxer mix is a stray that decided to adopt us last year. I wanted a second dog as a companion for our lab/husky mix and they are perfect together. She is loving, playful, fast, a creature of comfort and most of all, very loyal to all of us. We can’t remember what it was like without her and are thankful she chose us to be her family.
My 9 year old Timmy is the best companion I could ever ask for. He is a bridle and the most lovable high spirited friend I could have ever been owned by. I could tell you all the funny things he does and how good natured he is but that would only be adding to the list that everyone else has posted. Lets just say that without this dog life would be VERY difficult. He wakes me up in the morning with his stuffed up nose and his butt almost wiggles off when I get home from work at night. Needless to say, anyone wishing a dog that would be a good companion, the boxer rules!

Boxers are the best. I have 2 year old Trudy and even though she still destroys things she is the light of my life. She knows when to snuggle, and when to make me laugh. When she looks at me with the big brown eyes, I melt. I have had a few different breeds and Boxers are the best.
I have a 14 month old Brindle Boxer / German Shepherd mix (female), about 65 lbs. I also have a 3 year old Australian Shepherd (male). Both are rescues.
I had to put my friend of 14 years down about a year ago (German Shepherd, female) and thought I’d never find a better canine pal. The Aussie is a great dog but he bonded with my wife more than me from the start. Imagine that, a working dog that would rather be in the kitchen than outside chasing other critters. Oh wait, there’s easy food in the kitchen, never mind, smart dog.
Anyway the boxer has turned out to be all that I could ever want. She’s no dummy (though I think think the Aussie would beat her at chess if they could play) and she’s both energetic and mellow at the same time, not unlike my German Shepherd. She physically runs circles around the Aussie and doesn’t get as aloof as my female Shepherd used to (or my wife for that matter).
I’ve never had a boxer before but wouldn’t hesitate to get another. Probably the best all around dog I’ve ever had.
We are owned by two fur baby boxers. A six month old flashy fawn female, Sadie, whom I wish we would have named Peach because she certainly is as sweet as a peach; and Charley a 3 month old flashy brindle male. He is all boy and loves to haul around my husband’s shoes, especially his big heavy work boots. They are absolutely the joy of my life and I cannot imagine my life without them. I’ve owned several different breeds and I will never own another type of dog. They are absolutely hilarious. Sadie loves to try to “catch” the water out of the hose with her face but we have to literally pull her outside if it’s raining. Charley hangs on Sadie’s every move. If she licks a rock, he has to lick it too. I could spend hours watching them play. love the way they “box” together. We should have named Charley Pogo because he hops straight up into the air. Sadie loves her blankets and if there isn’t one in her crate at night, she’ll burrow under the pad.
