A Mountain Getaway the Dog-Friendly Waydog in front of fireplace

Sunday July 20, 2008
This weekend, my dog and I were fortunate enough to get away from the smog and noise of the city for a couple of days. Boy did we need it! I realize that my own stress gets carried over to my dog, so going away to decompress without her would have been even more stressful for her. We both loved the mountain air, cooler temperature and dog-friendly cabin. Now we both feel better.

We went to the North Georgia mountains and rented an amazing cabin from Blue Sky Cabin Rentals. Everything was wonderful down to the smallest detail. With a focus on dog lovers, the company offers a large plush dog bed, dog bowls and even a few toys for their canine guests. Plus, they do not charge extra for pets -- now that's dog-friendly service!

If you like the idea of renting a cabin in the mountains, consider finding a place where you can bring your dog! What dog-friendly accommodations have you found while traveling with your dog?

We found Cove Mountain Resorts in the Smokies have pet friendly cabins in that area. My daughter and I take our Goldens down at spring break and have a wonderful time.

This place is actually geared to dog lovers. There are cabins, travel trailer spaces, and tent spaces. They have large fenced areas for your dog, or dogs in my case, to play with the other camping dogs, a dog swimming hole, hiking, and evening get togethers. It was alot of fun.

Some friends and I took our dogs here, along the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA, and had a GREAT time. I think the dogs might have even enjoyed it more than us.

We were in the North Georgia Moutains this weekend and stayed with Sliding Rock Cabins “www.slidingrockcabins.com.” It was the most unbelievably relaxing weekend. We took our 4 dogs and stayed at Bluffstone. It not only had a bed for the dog, it had dog toys, bowls, treats and towels (it was on the river). Best of all, it had a FENCED YARD. We’ve stayed in a number of Sliding Rock Cabins and they too don’t charge pet fees or care that I have 4 perfectly huge dogs! Their cabins are absolutely the best in the North Georgia Mountains.

Loved the picture of Chloe. What a beautiful dog! Our dog, Boo, would like to invite you to visit us sometime at Tica Cabin Rentals in Blue Ridge. Most of our cabins are dog friendly. http://www.TicaCabins.com
