Your Dog's Personal Style Begins With the Collar Cute dog collars on French Bulldogs

Thursday June 5, 2008

I've been shopping for dog collars these days. I have not quite found the right one yet because there are too many choices! Finding the balance between stylish and functional seems to be key. I want a cute collar, but it must be durable and easy to put on and take off.

Dog collars come in all shapes and sizes. They can be used for training, walking, restraining and pure fashion. They may have buckles, clasps, break-away features and more. Even harnesses are available as a collar alternative. Choosing the right one can be time consuming. You may want to bring Sparky with you so you can see how the collar fits him, plus to make sure it coordinates with his color and coat.

We'll be heading out to look again soon, so it's a good thing my dog loves the pet supply store! What about yours? What kind of collar do you like best?

You can find any color collar and leash at PetsMart. I think PetCo has a good selection, too. I probably have a dozen different collars and matching leashes for my 75 lb. fashion diva puppy! One of my favorite leashes has large fake gemstones on it (ok, so it IS gaudy, but so cute) and I found it at a store called Tuesday Morning. My dog likes to swim so she also has a pink jelly collar (yes, just like the shoes)! If you need something for a small dog with rhinestones, I have seen them at Wal-Mart. Good luck!!

My baby girl is a big girl so I have a harder time finding her cute girl colors but they have a lot of cute sets. Good luck!

When we adopted our dog at a shelter they had collars for sale that they recommended which are the same principle as a “choke collar” but made of the durable nylon webbing fabric so it doesn’t ever hurt him. I have looked in many pet stores and have never seen another one. Have not “googled” it however.
