Get Active for Pet Week
This week, we dog owners should take a few extra moments to acknowledge the fundamental role dogs play in our lives. In case you have not started celebrating yet, remember that May 4-10 is National Pet Week. The theme this year is "Pets Jazz up Our Lives." How has your dog improved your life? Have you improved your dog's life?
One way dogs enhance our lives is through mutual bonding activities, such as exercise. Many of us are not getting enough exercise due to busy schedules and various obligations, and our dogs are sometimes out-of-shape and bored. Consider changing your daily routine to include 30-60 minutes of exercise for you and your dog. Try it in honor of Pet Week and see how it goes. Then, make it a long-term commitment and watch how it "jazzes up" your life.

On Feburary 8 of this year on my way to work a car pulled over, open its passagers door and dropped of a 1 month old choc lab, I picked her up with my intent of dropping her off at the shelter at the end of the day, well that didn’t happen. I kept her,took her to get dipped and took her home, 1 month later she got proval 3 days in the hospital and a lot of money later she survived, thank God. I know I saved her life but I really believe she saved mine. We walk every day, every day she goes with me everywhere, and I could not love her more. And as of today I have lost 20 pounds because of our walks, bottle that weight watchers.

In addition to occaional walks, I have incorporated a special play time with my pit bull with an interactive toy (aside from her normal chew toys). This special toy is put up and used only at playtime. We spend 45 minutes to an hour in the evening and at various times through the weekend. She has so much fun and it is great for me since I am in the office all day!
